Tuesday, December 06, 2005Well, I have moved into my new house only to discover that my DSL service, which I ordered a month ago and specified I needed it to start 12/3... will actually start 12/12. GREAT. I have been reduced to a free AOL CD, but I should be getting caught up on my emails tonight.

Friday, November 25, 2005Happy Holidays! I'm trying to work from home some, but Comcast has done a pretty good job of ensuring that my home connection is barely usable - it flickers on and off every minute or so. Still, I should be able to get to most support issues that don't require a steady connection (read: SSH).

Wednesday, November 02, 2005Okay, sites on LJ2 have been restored. Email is coming next. Please email support if you have any lingering problems.
LJ3 was unaffected, and the RAID 10 array coming in 2 weeks will prevent this in the future. .: posted by josh 11:07 AM
This morning, there was a hard drive failure on LJ2. We have got the server back up, and are now in the process of restoring from the most recent backups. Check the news page on logjamming.com, as I will update on there as more is known.
The ironic thing about this failure is that it happened 10 days before we were scheduled to install a RAID 10 hard drive array of 4 drives, which would mean we could have up to 2 hard drives fail without having any problem... The IT gods are laughing at me now, I can sense it! That said, the impending installation of the RAID array means that we should never encounter this issue again. Josh .: posted by josh 7:27 AM
Wednesday, October 05, 2005Lots of great things coming up - we will soon by moving all sites to new, way more powerful servers with lots more bandwidth! This means we will be upgrading what you get with your plans. More disc space, more email space, and EVERY plan will have MySQL access! In fact, if you need a MySQL db now, simply email me/support and we can hook that up!
More as it comes. .: posted by josh 4:14 PM
Friday, September 23, 2005We've updated the DBI perl module on the servers so that they will work fine with MySQL databases with Movable Type 3.2. Please let us know if you have any issues with this!

Tuesday, June 14, 2005The server was not responsive because someone was running an unsecured script, probably a older version of phpBB, that allowed some script kiddies to try and run unsecured code... It was not a root exploit, so it was pretty much just an annoyance. We're working on it. UPGRADE YOUR phpBB, if you use it.

Wednesday, May 11, 2005As mentioned yesterday, our firewall was only sending half duplex on one of it's ports, thus really killing speed on the servers. This was remedied last night and you should now see a HUGE speed improvement from both machines. Enjoy!

Tuesday, May 10, 2005We've noticed and had a few complaits about the speed of the servers lately, and we finally tracked it down with Rackspace. Apparently our Firewall is only transmitting half duplex on one of it's ports. Awesome ain't it. We are going to have to take the firewall down tonight, after midnight PST. It should only be down for 10 minutes or so according to Rackspace, but you know that always means an hour. So we'll update as soon as it's sorted out, and hopefully be back to FULL F'N DUPLEX soon.
Sorry about this folks. -loren .: posted by loren 1:29 PM
Wednesday, April 20, 2005We're now accepting new accounts! The signup process has been altered a bit and is now completely automated to allow for much faster setup times instead of relying on my busy butt to get things done.
We'll soon be allowing you to automatically upgrade and downgrade your packages by yourself as well... watch for an email/post about it. .: posted by loren 10:37 AM
Tuesday, April 19, 2005We've gone ahead and run the suspend queue, which will suspend all sites with very overdue invoices. If you never received invoices and your domain is suspended, chances are you have an email on file with us that doesn't work.
Just email billing at logjamming.com and we'll sort it out ASAP. Sorry that this is the way it had to be done, but we have no other way of getting in touch with most of our users other than email. Thanks! .: posted by loren 8:55 AM
Monday, April 11, 2005Billing is coming along. There has been quite a bit of confusion about back bills.
SO... if you get two invoices, PLEASE check the invoice numbers to see if you actually have to seperate invoices. If so... sign in to your account by going to HERE and logging in. You can check the dates on the invoices. Chances are one is for BACK PAYMENT... meaning it's for LAST YEAR... and the other is for the UPCOMING year. If you want to cancel your account just go to our CANCEL page and we'll take care of it. If you still owe for last year that invoice will remain pending. We are still deciding what to do about those who don't pay for last year despite obvious evidence that they've used the site. Collections are a possibility. As for the first round of account suspensions, the warning email has gone out but the sites haven't been suspended. We are waiting a bit since this is the first time we've done this. We'll probably put the suspensions through in a few days once all the stragglers are settled. FAQ and Trouble Ticket system are coming VERY soon as well as new signups. .: posted by loren 2:12 PM
Monday, March 28, 2005Mac Users: I haven't verified this yet, but a user has just reported that an issue with IE for the Mac is causing trouble for her when she uses her site control panel. She says that Safari and Firefox both work fine - which has been verified by resident Applehead Loren. So if you are a Mac user and for some reason using IE, maybe try Safari or Firefox if you are also having problems.

Sunday, March 27, 2005Hoorah! Well, at least it's a hoorah for us. Our first round of invoices with our newish billing system went out less than a half hour ago.
IF YOU HAVE PAID A RENEWAL BUT STILL GOT BILLED read on: As stated in our pre-billing email, quite a few of you were kind enough to pay your renewals without us going after you. If this is the case, and you received a bill, please reply with the paypal transaction number of the renewal payment you sent and we'll enter it in the new system. We know it's super lame for us to make you do this for us, and we sincerely apologize, but our old billing system sucks and we have no way of associating old PayPals with the accounts. We really are sorry about this situation. Please send all issues to billing (at) logjamming.com.... and be patient, we sent out over 500 bills and we will be rolling one person strong for the next week. =] .: posted by loren 12:31 AM
Friday, March 25, 2005Latest update on billing: We are on track to send out the first round of invoices this weekend. Hopefully Saturday night. We are a bit delayed due to the largish amount of bouncing emails we got from the billing info email we sent out yesterday that we've been trying to sort out.
I'll be in the desert from the 27th to the 4th, and Josh will be in conferences late in the week, so things might be a bit slow until I get back. Then we'll unleash the full new backend and automated billings and signups. Fingers crossed. .: posted by loren 2:30 PM
Wednesday, March 23, 2005We are in the middle of a MT Trackback spam attack on both servers. I have it pretty much under control, but if you use Movable Type, I suggest you read this and follow the steps outlined there. Please contact us if you have questions.
We also note : if you have NEVER recieved a legitimate TB, only spam TBs... maybe just disable TB? .: posted by josh 12:31 PM

Looks like we are on track to be billing by Thursday. We've tested and re-re-re-re-re-re-retested, so hopefully it will all be smooth sailing. I'll be email out a warning letter that has all the details, and boy is that puppy long, which sucks but it has everything you need to know. I'll also be posting it here in the news or somewhere else on the website. Looking into an RSS feed for the news as well. Stay tuned logfans.

Monday, March 21, 2005ModernBill is coming along nicely and we expect to be sending out invoices by the end of the week. We'll send out a pre-emptory email to explain everything that's going on, since it will be a bit confusing for those being back billed. Automated billing SOOON! Yay!

Friday, March 18, 2005We will be adding 1GB of RAM to both servers this evening between midnight and 4am CST. There will be a small downtime during the upgrade. This should alleviate the slowdowns we've been seeing lately!

Thursday, March 10, 2005If you are wondering why LJ2 is slow... it's because Wil Wheaton is getting hammered due to articles about his appearance in CSI tonight. We are staying as on top of it as we can. Things should smooth out tonight!

Tuesday, March 01, 2005We are once again cracking open our skulls trying to get ModernBill up and running. Josh is the man and we are incredibly close to having written a translation tool to move everone's info from Plesk over to the ModernBill system, which will now be the client epicenter. All billing and account management will happen through it, as well as support tickets and FAQ's and all that goodness. I can't wait.
So all you good folks who've been free-riding it, save up some green 'cause we are going to have to send some bills out soon like. .: posted by loren 3:53 AM
Friday, February 18, 2005Holy hell. We just realized we still had stuff pertaining to the old RAQ servers on our signup page! That's pretty ridiculous. It's all cleaned up and pertinent so apologies if we confused anyone!

Friday, January 21, 2005Sorry if I've been slow to respond to emails. I've got the flu, or something else really nasty.
This weekend we are going to have fun trying to get Modernbill going again, health permitting. .: posted by josh 6:54 AM
